Default Replacing a SLCM on an 03 XJ8

Can anyone tell me step by step how to remove the fuse panel and get to the SLCM under it? Found a used SLCM but need to make sure it will program to my vehicle by looking at the codes first - any help on this is appreciated!! Just a hair nervous!!! Thanks, Joe

Remove the battery leads and then unbolt the fuse panel mounts- I doubt you will have any problems, but be aware that your remote must match the SCLM. A SCLM from my MY 98 XJR worked fine on my XJ8.

Hey thanks - If I get a used SLCM can the remotes be programmed to the new one? I seem to see a post where it gave instructions on programming the remotes, but just want to make sure, that's all. Thanks again for the reply!!

The remotes must be on the right frequency- In the uS, that changed sometime between MY 98 and MY 02, but Idon't know when!

The frequency change is 2000/2001 MY.
The JEPC will have the VIN split when looking up the keyfob transmitter.

The early transmitters have 4 buttons the same shape and size, the later ones have LOCK/UNLOCK buttons different shapes and the BOOT-HEADLAMP buttons are smaller.

I received my SLCM from an EBay supplier and it matched, but have to re-program my remotes. A side note when removing the fuse box (which I was nervous doing) you must flip it upside down to unclip the SLCM and it will unclip out after you remove the wire that screws in the side of it. Was actually a pretty simple fix!!! Thanks for your advice
