Default retrofitting picnic trays

hello new to the forum with a 1998 xj8-L. a junkyard near me has a 2000 vanden plas that was in a wreck. I was wondering if the picnic trays from this vehicle could be retrofitted to my xj8-l. I have dealt with the guy at this yard before and interiors mean nothing to him, so I am sure I could get them cheap if they would fit. Thanks for all your help

steve

you may need the whole seat frame..last i checked on a 02 or a 04 and the trays screw into a part of aluminum that the regular seat dint have .. sounds like a good project to take on tho..

JG, my '04 doesn't have picnic trays, is it supposed to? I thought the trays were not available in '04.

Cadrad,

The answer to your question is yes, although you will have to remove the leather covers from both seat frames to swap everything over. You have to use the rear cover for the seat from the Vanden Plas, so make sure you can live with the difference in color.

I found a 1998 VDP where I want to pull the seatbacks with the tables off to put on my car, it looks like there is a separate seatback with the picnic tables thats actually separate from the seat, but I cant figure out how to unbolt it from the seat...can anyone help me??
