rides like a truck

My 1999 XJ8 has 90K miles and used to ride like a dream, but ever since I rocked it hard last winter when I was stuck in snow and ice the ride resembles an old pickup. Possible causes? Where should I look first? Non-Jag suspension options?
Deals, I would tell you to walk around the car and push down on each corner of the car. What you are looking for is a slight rebound of the car. Normally you are using this to check the proper operation of the shocks (ie, car should not bounce more than 3 times, 2 is normal). In your case, what you may see is the car will be pushed down and it will return to ride height with no bouncing. This would indicate to me that you have managed to bend a shock and it is binding up, giving you the hard ride. As for a fix, new shocks. As for a brand, I will let other XK owners give you feedback on that.
If you question the shocks, you can disconnect one end of the shocks and then try pushing down on a corner of the car. In this case, the car should rebound a few times due to minimal dampening. If you are still getting the lack of rebound, then further troubleshooting is needed.

Maybe we could get the Deal on what "rides like a truck" means.
Rear shocks on an XJ8 take 1 1/2 hours each to remove, test and refit or renew...if you belive the DIYers who claim they can do it that fast.
Noise? Vibration? Ride quality harshness? Bad tires with 40PSI?
