Default Security Module Fried

Water got into the trunk of my 1999 Jaguar XJR. I took it to an automotive electric repair service and they indicated that the security module is fried. He attempted to get a replacement module from Jaguar however Jaguar indicates that they will not sell the part to a non jaguar dealer because the unit has to be flashed. Does anyone know if a used part for the same model year could replace the defective security module without being having to be "flashed?"

Get a part with the same VCATS number and SUFFIX (last 3 digits, that is the most important) and I think it will work without configuration other than the KEYFOB TRANSMITTERS. You can always call the dealer and tell them the part number and SUFFIX from the VCATS to get the correct SLCM.

If you just ask Jaguar for the part they will tell you that the JEPC states that you will need to interrogate the control module for the part number. You just need to look in the boot for the VCATS and give that number (INCLUDING THE 3 DIGIT SUFFIX)
