selling '99 xj8

My wife's '99 XJ8with 79K miles needs a new engine. It is drivable and otherwise in excellent condition. Have a cost of $13,000 for a remanufactured engine. Wife wants a new car and I don't need one or I would fix it for myself.

Any idea what the value of this car as is might be?

Anyone interested?

Don't look to get more that 3K for it...if that much! Part it off and sell it! Or put a used engine in and sell it!

These cars never sell for above 9,000 dollars, and that's with good engines. What does driveable and need a new engine mean. Does this engine have the Nikisil problem, si that why it needs to be replaced?

Engine hasNikasil problem! Blows oil out the air cleaner! Car runs, could probably drive it anywhere if you carry a spare air filter and know where and how to clean the intake sensors when the car goes into restricted performance mode. My experience with Jaguar and the Jaguar dealer I bought it from was horrible. As Jaguar afficianodos, you would be embarassed to hear the crap the dealer gave us as to why we had so many problems with the engine of this car: all of which I now know to be precursers to the Nikasil failing. I bought this car in 2001, long after Jaguar new of the problem but the feed us BS. Sorry, just venting anger and frustration. Yet I met another jaguar dealer who I get along with who is making me a very good offer on a new S type which I might buy?

If a car needs a new engine with that problem yuo will be lucky if you can give it away. I paid 4,00 for my 93, and that has a horse of an engine, since you're car needs a new one I doubt you will be able to sell it,but 2,000 is probably the most you can get. Nobody will want to buy it tho because they will no they will have to spend 13,000 on a new engine, which means they paid 15,000 for a car that only cost 9,000 usually. see what the dealer will give you for the car

Does this very good offer include a trade-in of your '99? If so, DO IT!! But make sure you get a Jaguar warranty with the S-Type (or any other Jaguar you buy).
