Hi,

I have a 1998 XJ8. The batteries in the key fob died the other day, but I can still access the car using the key. I stopped off at the petrol station this morning but could not get the petrol cap cover to unlock. It seems that it only unlocks if you use the key fob to unlock the car, not the key. This is a major problem as I can't get new batteries till this weekend and now don't have enough petrol to get home from work.

Am I missing an over-ride function somewhere in the car? Any ideas

Open the boot and pull the auxilary cord that opens the gas door! Problem solved!

it should just open by locking and unlocking at drivers door lock.
