The only time I didn't love this engine was when I was changing the spark plugs (that's a LOT of plugs, plus I had to move the air compressor in order to reach some!). Otherwise, .....like you said, gobs of power right where you need it, and as smooth as silk.

Anyway, us old guys should be ready for bed now as we get tired easily at our age, & Sandy is young & fit-in both senses of the word hohoho

Excuse me for a moment, but everything's gone purple & I hear the distant musical symphony of 12 cylinders firing in perfect harmony, with all those lovely power strokes at 60 degree intervals...

It's just possible I may need medical attention soon-where is the nurse

 

It took me about 2 hours to get all 12 plugs removed & one was partially seized half-way in. A bit of penetrating oil & gently working it back & forth eventually got it out thankfully, with no thread damage to the head.

However, even taking into account the back ache incurred whilst bent over the engine to get the plugs out, it was still cool to tell people you'd just changed the 12 spark plugs on your engine

 

Daniel, if you are going to buy this, please change those wheels as first upgrade. A car like this with bling wheels and probably 50Cent music on the tape is a killer for the Jag lovers. As for the Swiss one, I see it more in your warm garage than parked on the streets of Sandy's town, running 10.000 km a months.

Anybody have an idea how much it cost to pay for a Euro 1 6000 cm3 yearly taxes in Germany?

 

Yes i know, i have 2 of these V12 in my garage one XJ81 morocco red and one X305 Daimler DD6 saphir blue/cream
For the XJ81 the tax is at the moment 910,-€ per year and the X305 is about the half deticated to his Euro2

Sandy if you really want a V12, at the moment im thinking about to sell my well maintained and rust free DD6

 

So I spoke with my mate about the XJ12 in St Margrethen.
Beautiful car, looks to be in great shape, but way way overpriced.

He would have offered no more than Sfr 8-10K for it, and there is no way that dealer would drop his price so far. It's probably not worth taking it further. Pity because it looks like a great example. But you would really do your dough at Sfr 18K.

The car is NOT for me! As far as "50 cents" music, (or is it "Dolla" now?),...you nailed it right on. The wheels are pure cheese, and I was reluctant to drive to see it because of them (a dead giveaway!). Well,.....all was not lost (except some gas), but a nice dinner in Beverly Hills, more than compensated for the drive.

Short overview of the history
Since ive bought the car in Dec 2011 ive driven it from time to time, but only when it was dry and no rain ( ok one time on a weekend trip to Genua it starts to rain... ) the rest of the time it was garaged. The car is a swiss car and a really good "base" for get a very very nice DD6.
I call it "base" for the reason after 16 years a car gets some sings of use, like some scratches ( on the bottom of the front bumper ) dents from other cars doors ( i allready talked to a mechanic and you dont net to paint the sections, just push the dents out )
and on some sections it has lost parts of its clearcoat ( the biggest section is at the fuel gap )

This are the "negativ" aspects of the car but the mechanic/electric works perfekt. No sounds from bushes or drivetrain, gearbox shifts well, engine starts perfect even after months of parking without anything, runs silent with no shaking ( you can put a 2 € piece on it and it stand ) breaks are in good condition.
Interior is in very good shape, seat heating works, seat/steeringwheel adjustment also works, rooftop works, windows works.

Overall ive bought it for the reason the expensive parts/sections on this car are in very good condition, and if you spent a bit of money in it you geat a unique car.

And if you ask why i sell it, i really want a E-Type Series 1 and i need a bit if space for it

Is it in condition to be right away driven for 200km?

uh-oh, sounds like Sandy's serious! A superb car, I'm a huge fan of the V12 engine. The same basic unit won Le Mans twice and second the other time after Mercedes Benz beat them with a rule change
They're a very reliable car too - but the down side is fuel economy is not as good as the V8's.

Rarity is dictating market prices in Europe I guess, they only made a few of these cars. The ultimate being the Super 8 (a long wheel base version of the XJR)

My only suggestion on that car is to upgrade the front and rear lights to 308 'jewel' spec.

 

The gearbox should be the 4L80E from GM, i think its very reliable even Bentley used it in the Turbo R and it produces way more torque then the Jag
Sandy 200km are borring for the cat, on my trip to Genua i put about 650km on it, one way
