Default So its not the immobilizer

Hi guys,

Drove my Jaguar into the barn on a Monday came out to use it on the Wednesday turned over would not start. mileage is 116 thou.
40lbs pressure at the fuel rail. No injector pulse and a weak spark.
Cardinal sin I threw parts at it. replaced camshhaft sensor and crank sensor.
No change.
Reading through the search section led me to think that maybe the immobilizer had kicked in. I couldn't find a scanner in my price range that listed Jaguar immobilizer as a feature so.........

Well my non starting 2000 Vanden Plas was trucked to Momentum Jaguar here in Houston TX.
They ran a basic scan ($160.00)and its not the immobilizer and I really can't justify the next price step ($785.00) to go to the next scan level, plus compression check etc. apparently that's 5 hours of time, then plus what ever needs to be repaired/exchanged.
Momentum have been super helpful and polite during this time.
I believe my only choice is to truck it back home and slowly try to fix it (polite speak for throwing parts at it). My question is:
Do replacement modules new or used have to be coded to the vehicle after install?
Thank goodness my '89 V12 XJS is not too computerized.
Any and all help or suggestions are gratefully received.
This car is way too nice to scrap.
Michael

It is always good to inform us if the car does turn over, but does not start (catch), or if nothing happens.
Different solutions to different problems ...

Anyway, there was this thread on the forum recently, with seemingly the same symptoms.
You might contact jaghag00, as he does not really state the final cause.
He seems to be a cooperative guy .

Tow it back home.

You mentioned no injector pulse. Did you use a volt meter or noid light to determine this?

Does your engine sound 'different' like it's free wheeling when you crank the engine over?

Thanks guys for the answers.
I used a light for injector pulse.
Yes the engine spun over as if no resistance
end result is I have sold the vehicle as I cannot justify the cost involved with Jaguar fixing it and no one close to me is able to work on it.
I'm over 70 now and crawling around underneath a car is no longer the thrill it once was.
I will put the time effort and money into improving my '89 XJS V12 which I have owned for years so I'm not leaving the Jaguar family just redirecting resources.
Thanks to all
