Sport or Luxury Suspension...How to tell?
Been browsing the posts about shocks on the forum, as I am contemplating replacing mine. The car seems to be riding a bit harsher than I remember. The front upper shock mounts seem to be good, but will probably just replace them in the process.
Quick question... How does one tell if you have a luxury or a sports suspension? I want to be sure I get the right shock (Bilstein) for it. Any recommendations on which shocks and where is the best place to get them is also appreciated. I have used Shockwarehouse.com in the past with good results.
Thanks for the help!

Sports shocks are green.
Standard shocks are black.
For a while the Bilstein website had the descriptions and part numbers flipped, but it's fixed now. To make sure you get the right ones, use the Bilstein US website to find the part numbers, and then buy the part numbers.

A standard X308 should have the comfort suspension.
The only vehicles spec'ing the sport suspension were the
3.2 Sport and the XJR. Maybe Mexico market vehicles as
well. They have a number of exceptions to deal with
local conditions.
The canonical source of information is the build sheet for
your specific vehicle. Any friendly parts counter person
or service advisor at a Jaguar dealership can give you
a printout.

Thanks for the quick reply and good info. Learn something new every day.
Plum: I think the key word in your post was "friendly" when referring to getting a build sheet off the dealership.

It's an easy request and more pleasant for the CSR
than dealing with someone complaining about xyz.

All they have to do is a lookup by VIN and copy it into
an email.
If your factory rims are:
16" = Luxury
18" = Sport
19" and above = does is matter? You'll feel a penny on the road no matter what you have.

I found the best price at AllShock.com. They specialize in Bilsteins. Counterman was very informative. I went with the green sport shock even tho I had a XJ8L (luxury suspension): rode smooth but slightly tighter handling.
