Question Start Help after the winter break

Dear Jag drivers,
I have a problem and would like some help from people who know the XJ308 machines. During the winter I forgot to go and start the engine on a regular basis and now all it does it turn and turn and turn over. Is this caused by a battery which isn't strong enough?
I have recharged the battery but it only shows 11.7v across the poles. What do you all reckon? Is there a ritual to go through after sitting around for 4 or 5 months?
Thanks
Paul

Could be just the weak battery, could be a fuel problem too. First step would be try to charge / jump it, and see if that helps. Maybe a a bit of gas treatment in the tank as well (water remover/DryGas, whatever it might be called in your region).

just had the same exact problem my jag has been sitting for about 8 months while i was working on it time to time what worked for me was push gas petal to floor then crank it. If it tries to turn over kinda ease off pedal , what i had to do to mine was hold gas pedal at a steady rpm until car was warm enough to stay on by itself but might have to try this a few times
