Stolen XJ8 out of Houston, Texas at Jaguar Sports Intl
My 2001 Jaguar XJ8 was stolen or disappeared from the Jaguar Sports International body shop after July 2023 when the shop was asked to look after the car while my husband was in the hospital and under therapy. He had ask for it to be made ready for pickup but he never made it because of two freak accidents. One landed him on the hospital and the next one reinjured his already compromised condition. We didn't know the Jag was not at the shop until we called the shop from my husband's cardiologist office on Dec 4, 2023. The shop owner said the car wasn't at the shop and he would try to locate it. "WHAT?" We had never been notified that the car was missing from the lot. Later investigation by the authorities has revealed that the evidence collected so far and the comments made by the shop, do not add up. I'll be 76 years in March 2024. The Jaguar was my retirement vehicle. I bought the 2001 Jaguar XJ8 in 2009. It's a beautiful story how the purchase occurred. It was my last car. My husband found me a blessed service provider. He was much more than a mechanic. We had a much appreciated relationship. He was a 'GEM' and had a son becoming just like him. He passed in 2021. His son recommended Jaguar Sports Intl to continue servicing the Jaguar. So now my Jaguar has been stolen or missing from the shop. It's been reported stolen and under investigation. The evidence collected so far does not match the comments given by the shop. I can't afford another car...period. I don't work, much of my time is caring for my husband and myself along with his bedridden sister, my sister-in-law. I don't know how to contact dealerships in mass or online forums. This is the reason I'm on this message board for help. The vin # is SAJDA14C21LF39068. I've learned that vin #'s can be changed, keys can be cut by locksmiths, etc. I just want to find my Jaguar.

This reminds me of those people asking for money at gas stations because their car died 10 miles up the road and their wife is having a baby while their daughter and son are terminally ill and they're driving to a specialist at a hospital in another state.
If the story is true, I feel for the OP. Just such a wild story it's hard to believe. Also, I ain't clicking that hyperlink VIN number. Just saying.
Best of luck, Heartbroken.

That link just goes to this forum's own VIN decoder page. I think it just recognized a VIN and hyperlinked it by default.
If you can post some distinguishing characteristics, interior/exterior colors, any flaws like scratches, then we can keep an eye out for it. Many of us browse FB Marketplace and other classified or auction listings and there's a chance that somebody might recognize it. But I would recommend you contact the Jaguar club there in Houston https://jaguarclubofhouston.com/. Somebody there might have heard what's going on locally with regard to stolen Jaguars and parts or they may have members who are in positions to help at least with advice, i.e. attorneys, police officers, insurance agents, etc. But we are left to assume that you didn't have full coverage insurance on it or you'd have made a claim, your insurance would have just paid you and gone after the shop themselves. Still, the shop is liable for the theft of the car while it was in their possession and they should have insurance to cover it. If they don't have insurance, then it becomes a civil claim and that's where you may need some more official legal advice that you're not likely to get on this forum. So sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope it can be found and everything works out in your favor.

Publicly posting information about an ongoing police investigation is a very bad idea, particularly with the potential for cynics to start blaming and badmouthing the shop that may or may not just be stuck in the middle of this wild rollercoaster ride...
