Default strange electrical issue

So bear in mind this car is very new to me (working on it for my neighbor). She goes out of town sometimes for months on end so we are going to be the babysitter for her.

The first day she brings it to me it was burping out steam, she had already spent 800+ at the jag dealer to no avail. I pulled off the expansion tank and sure enough, 2" crack on the bottom side of it. Installed no problem.

The real issue started the next day as my old lady tries to park it and breaks out the glass lens on the passenger side of the car. Couple-O hundred dollars later I put in the new lens. Start the car up to check the lights (which work fine) but I notice the whole dash is dead, no informational screen, no tach, no fuel guage, all was dead, but the car started fine, and I also could not get it out of park at this point.

I read on here how sensitive these cars are to low battery voltage so I started with checking all fuses around the car (except the ones with the little lock piece in place to prevent removal? Checked the battery charge which was 11.5, so I charged it overnight, checked again, now at 12.8.

Now it seems as if the analog type warning lights come on the dash, but still no informational message screen, or tack, fuel, oil. Still stuck in park, P light is lit up. With key off, I can bump shifter to the left and the dash starts beeping.

Another odd thing I noticed is that before when i would close a door it seemed as if the window would kind of suck it self tighter, now it does not do that.

Also, if I just barely touch the outside door handle the window rolls down about 1 ", and I can keep doing this from the outside until the window is all the way down? Sure would like to figure out whats going on here so I can go take this beast for a drive.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Try unplugging the battery for an extended time (or hard reset), replacement might be a good idea though.

The owner says it is new from last year, I did try the hard reset by disconnecting from battery and connecting + and - cables for 30 seconds. I will go disconnect the battery overnight and see what happens.

thanks,

Remove the battery and charge it overnight.

The windows have lost their memory and just require resetting. See what happens and then report back.

Grrrrr, went out this morning, hooked battery back up, now i'm back to a completely dead dash. All other electrical seems to be working, windows still acting strange, still stuck in park. Does this seem to be a bad battery issue? I would think that with a fresh/complete charge even if the batt had some type of issue that they would at least temporarily clear up until the battery charge went down a bit? Yes/No?

Next thing to do is check the ground points for corrosion and loose fittings.

Start with the battery connections and then check the engine bay.

Went ahead and took the battery up to have tested and oreillys reports it is a good battery, went ahead and bought a new one to bring home to test with and exact same issues as before, so i'm going to start chasing down grounds here shortly. Thankfully the owner is getting ready to go out of town for several months so I can take my time hunting down this gremlin.
