Default Strange sound after car warms up

Okay, so finally got the Reduced Performance straightened out which took care of all other codes I had. (All was mentioned in an earlier thread). But before and since getting the car back from the garage I have noticed a sound I cannot isolate and getting a bit under my skin. Will attempt to describe the sound to my best ability, and hopefully get a recording of it to post. Anyhow here is my best attempt to describe it: It sounds like air leaking into the compartment and a bit from the front bulkhead, sounds like the wooo, woooo sound we made as kids (and as adults) when blowing into an empty bottle.

I know it's not from the a/c or radio bleed over as I have turned both off and still get it. and it occurs after acceleration or during deceleration. sometimes when stopped but only for about 10-2o seconds. Like said, when I accelerate up to speed no sound, level off at speed it starts and this happens only when the car gets warmed up. the car accelerates fine, drives fine, and shifts fine so its like one of those DUH moments.

If at all, when I take the in for brakes and serving, I may just drive it till it warms up and starts and stop at the garage to have a mechanic ride along to see what he thinks, may and sure the owner would, put it a rack and accelerate and such and see about isolating it then.

Any thoughts on this

From the description, seems it could be a gasket on the EGR. I say that because you state it has to warm up to make the noise. Would definitely focus my attention toward items that open/close after warm up.

well guess I am going to have to wait before checking everything mention under the hood, we are in an excessive heat advisory until Friday, but with our Nebraska weather it could continue into next week. So far the temps will be 100 tomorrow, 103 for thursday and friday. with the Humidity will have feel like temps of 105 to 115. So just going to sit on my *** in a/c and drink a few.

Rpm dependent?

Mine makes a vaguely similar woowoo sound, I think I've determined it's a combination of ps pump dying and a tsb on either the ps or ac lines. It might be ac, but there is a tsb somewhere on a humming noise which involves replacing some lines with newer parts. Not sure if the tsb is relevant to you. Belt pulley bearings? If anything, those are easy to check.

only when driving, but not all the time thats why its hard to find. when I set up an appoint to have my brakes, shocks and tranny fluid done, I will drive it around the day before(usually drop off car a day before) until it starts doing it, then see about one of the workers listening to it.

will have to look into that, do you a link for those TSBs? too damn hot this week to check under the hood as I stated before, but will get back on it soon and check other items you mentioned. I do believe my PS pump is good, no leaks and seems to steer well.

As far as the power steering goes, have you checked the condition of your fluid? When it gets dirty, it gets harder to push it through the system (the rack especially). On Chevy's its a groaning type whiney moan, on Ford's it tends to be a higher, less stress sounding moan. What it is on a Jag, I don't know, but just showing examples in relation to nilaniums response.
