Hi folks,

My son drove the XJ8 the other day, and the heater/AC system fan now sounds like a small airplane. It still moves lots of air, but is very noisy, as if it is suddenly unbalanced. Anyone had a similar problem?

 

A common problem is that climate control insulation comes loose and gets caught in the fan. There is a thread or two on removing it without removing the entire dash. Fortunately, I have not had that experience to share.

 

That may be the issue, because a couple weeks ago it started making a funny whistling noise as though something was trapped in the vent.
