Default Sunroof Issues

I should start by mentioning that I have tried to open my sunroof exactly once since I bought my 01 VDP last fall. At the time, it looked like maybe the mechanism was partly jammed, so I got it closed and have left it along since.

But, being a glutton for punishment, it is maybe time to start checking it out. In particular, the point of this thread has to do with evidence of sunroof leakage. When I got the car I noticed that the soft cloth on the bottom of the front inner sunroof panel was bunched and wrinkled especially along the sides, where it rides (rubs) back and forth on the inner trim moulding that goes around the sunroof opening.

It rained over the last day, and when I was in the car today I realized that the bunched inner panel cloth at the sides was damp. It seems to me that the dampness may well be what caused the cloth to bunch up. Curiously, I haven't seen any evidence yet that the headliner has been damp anywhere.

Anyway, my question is what would be a likely cause of the dampness, and what would be the best way to investigate? I have looked through some other threads where people have wet headliners, or water dripping down onto the carpets, but I don't seem to have any of that. But if I can get the moisture source turned off, I will have to replace the sunroof inner panel fabric, for the car to look nice inside.

Hi
Your moisture problem might be that the water channels aound the sunroof are plugged up. There are 4 drain holes - 2 drain holes in front and 2 in the back.
Here is the thread that has information on the sunroof irrigation system:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...leaking-36199/

Look at post# 13. It describes how to see if any of the drains are plugged.

Here is another posting that might help:
