Sunroof rattle and weatherstrip
Good afternoon!!
Well since my headliner is down I thought I would tackle a rattle that I hear from the sunroof over certain bumps etc.
It appears that it has something to do with the passenger side mechanism. I did some exploring and removed the actual metal sunroof to examine. I did not notice anything except both have cracking plastic covering the metal portions. With the sunroof off, I could not tell any difference in wear, movement etc.
So I placed the body part back on and noticed some light shinning through the rear between the body and weatherstrip. I adjusted it so I could not see any light however where the weatherstrip ends meet is still a gap. Too I cant see the front to see how much light might be coming through.
Question, is it supposed to be water tight? Do you really need a crimping tool to put new weatherstrip on and is it still available?
Thanks!!
Chris

It's not supposed to be water tight. The water comes in and is diverted away to the troughs and then drain hoses.
When you align the panel, the leading edge of the panel should be flush or 1mm below the surrounding roof. This keeps wind noise down.

Awesome, Thank you! That's what I needed to know. Above 85-90 it used to whistle too. When I reinstalled it yesterday it was lower than the scribe marks that I placed on it before removal so hopefully that helped.
