Default Sunroof stuck open :(

Hello all, I have a 2000 XJ8 that the sunroof recently stopped working after I opened it. (Tilted up not fully open) It then stopped working. I can't hear any motor noise and I checked the fuse and that's fine. Is there a way I can manually close it or another fix to try? It doesn't look like anythings broken just that the switch is not working.
Thanks

First thing to try is a hard reset. Loosen negative battery clamp, pull it off battery post, stretch it over to touch it and hold it against positive battery post for about 30-40 seconds. Essentially a reboot of your car's computer system. Restore cable back and tighten clamp.

Retry your sunroof and see what ya get.

If hard reset doesn't work, try here... page 99.

You can manually move the sliding roof with a large flat blade screw driver in the motor drive gear assy.

I also uploaded all the X300/X308 TSBs for the sliding roof fixes, faults and issues.
Look in the large file download area. (the roofs are the same)

What?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong. Sounds like a guide to shorting out the battery to me ...

I've done it dozens of times and never suffered any such calamity. Do a forum search on "hard reset". You'll see...

Here's a thread..

It's mentioned and suggested probably 10 times a day around here. I do it without even thinking anymore when the sunroof acts up or a window misbehaves. I've never encountered the "radio code" getting whacked when doing it either. All it's ever done for me is fix my problem.
