Default Time to say goodye :)

Hello, guys
Now i have to say that the time has come for me to leave this section (hey, but not the whole forum)
I've sold mine 2001 XJ8. I always wanted to get a nice XJR, but... But i was unable to find one with a decent price and condition. I wanted to buy a X350 XJR, still no luck.
So i've decided to go further and i've got a nice 2008 XKR Coupe. Black with black interior, low milage, with a clean history. It is really an awesome car.
Anyway, the X308 will take a special place in my heart and memory. It is an unique car - stylish and fast, reliable and powerful - one of the most beautiful cars i've ever driven...
I just want to thank all of you for support, for a beautyful FAQ, for a nice atmosphere Thank you, guys, and may all of your Jaguars brings you joy and happiness

Moscow - I see you;'re leaving the section and NOT the forum, well thats good news!

I guess it's sad / happy times?

Always sad to see an old loved one go, but excited to get to know your new love.....been there many times too.

Why not post a few side by side pics here of them both together?

Thanks for the kind words on the forum and its members, much appreciated.

Hope you enjoy your new ride
Best

Jim

Unfortunately there's no side-by-side pics, i've had to sell an XJ8 first to get an XKR(damn, it's almost 50000$)
Last year was really hard for me - i've quit one job, i've got another one, i've had a divorce, i've had a really hard times and sometimes i haven't had enough money to buy a full tank of gas. But it's in the past and this year strarts with a pleasant and wonderful things
Actually i'm pretty happy. A X150 XKR was a first Jaguar i used to drive... It was in 2010, when i was a JLR Russia technical trainer. It was a white cabrio, whith creamy interior... It was like a first love and now i've felt in that first love again...

Up and forward...such is life!

You only live once so what's 50K ? But I do know how hard those later XJR's are to find. Oh well, one day. Enjoy!

I'll post some pics later today, have to do some things first - you know - oil service, transmission oil service, new filters and so on

50K is nothing, comparing to the joy and happiness

I often thought about you Nick, wondering what happened. Now I know. And,.......been there than that (divorce, going broke, etc.). And not just once,.....THREE times. Now on my fourth marriage, and doing well. Sold my cat's as well! On the hunt for 2003 XJR.

Broke down, and looked at XKRs too! Couldn't do it. Here in CA, MOST XKRs are driven by the men my age (gray hair), and the whole package screams "VIAGARA"! (still not needed, thank you very much!)

Good luck Nick, pop in once in a while.

That's the move that i am thinking too for the last 2 years. Searching for a crashed XK-XKR from the States or flooded one from Europe. You can have a 2010-2011 for 10-15 k dollars.
But i will keep too my XJ8, despite huge taxes for it (1500 dollars/year, no insurance included).

It's a quite bad idea.
It's very hard to almost imossible to do a good body repair of a seriously damaged aluminium body.
Flooded one is even worse idea, since these cats have a very comlicated network and a lot of modules. The relplacement of a modules or a wiring is a VERY expensive thing and some modules, taken from a junk yard or a parts car will not work at all.

Wow, three times is a weird thing, LOL

C'mon, why should you care what others are thinking? If you like it - come and get it!

It's NOT what others are thinking! It's what I think. Every time I see some old dude driving Corvette, Porsche, or any other high preformance car, I snicker. "Where have you been guy, when having the car like that WOULD get you laid!? Now that you need pharmaceuticals to get going, you think THIS will do it?" Something like that. I "figured" it out long ago,.....it's NOT the car! It's a YOUNG woman (my current wife is only 12 years younger, my last "ex" was 20!). Every time I feel I need a new high performance car, I go for a younger woman instead (more money for sure, but boy oh boy!).

Oh, c'mon. Having a high perfomance car gives a tons of fun Sure, younger womans also do the trick, but... I prefer to have both of them (no need for chemistry, tho).
And i don't use a car to be laid. I'm just having fun with it

The whole joking was not about YOU Nick. You are a young man, and I'm sure those Moscow girls are lining up for a ride (in your XKR!). Been to Moscow, done that! I was talking about the guys MY age, trying to relive the youth in the sports car.

well.....as long as your being true to the marque I don't think any one can complain for you up grading......unlike when I dropped the wife for her younger sister.....that caused a proper stink...............small minded people in my opinion...lol...

that said..I've had several jags but only one wife for 20 years.........I look after them equally well.......its easy to replace a bad car for a good one........but if you get a good wife first time round you never have the cost of an upgrade......

The X150 is aluminum indeed, but all body is made of panels glued and riveted, only 10-15 cm are welded somewhere on the roof. You will find a thread on XK/XKR forum , a member rebuilding such car(I think 2008 XKR) bought under 10k. Good luck with the new toy!

I like the way to tell a Jaguar factory tech how to do it, did you know if an airbag goes off on the X150 you need a complete dash, along with eleventy seven modules that are fiber optic connected...a whole leap from the old copper wire 308 in tech and systems, take the advice I looked too and you have to be really, really lucky.

Cracking car Moscow

Hey Sean, you have to be a factory specialist to repair a car like this?
https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/Vehicl...adRecent=True#
It was buy it now for 13300 $, not bad for a 3 years old car. I know about the passenger dash airbags, no problem!

Even if the rear part of the chassis is a little bent, with 2k Euro is like new, professionally done in an aluminum body shop.

I know. I'll tell you more - i've been on a body repair trainin in JLR HQ. And belive me, it's a helluva job to repair this body RIGHT. Takes a lot of time and money.
And as for me, i don't want to have a car, that was repaired incorrectly - that's a safety issue, after all.
