Default Tires for XJ8

What are the widest tires that fit on the 2002 Jaguar XJ8? Also what are the best and quietest? I need to buy some ASAP.

First question would be what size rims do you have on it? I'm guessing 17x7s ir 17x7.5 right? If that is the case you can probably squeeze 255s on there but not 275s. As for best and quietest they are two very different things. Best as far as handling would be dedicated slicks but I don't think you would find them to be very quite. I've been a fan of Kumho LEs for my XJR as they have very good performance and are quite quiet. They don't last more than 20k or so but they are a max performance summer tire and you don't get handling and long life in the same tire.

I recently put on Toyo Versado Noir tires 235-60 R16H very quiet handle like a dream wet or dry. just got back from a road trip doing 3752.2 miles. tires handle any speed with no problem whatsoever and come with a supposedly 70,000 mile warranty. I would recommend them to anyone jrb53

Don't know what size will fit your XJ8, but I have been very happy with the Continental ExtremeContact DW tires I just put on my XJR. They are all season, as opposed to straight summer tires, but I like them better than the previous Michelin Super Sports and A/S's I had previously. The Continentals are quiet, perform well, and don't tramline at all. They were also less expensive than the Michelins with a longer warranty.

Good luck!
