Default Sunroof inquiry.

Having my 2000's headliner done next week & in my haste going over everything else to make note & upgrade or repair. I just realized part of the sunroof inside cover is missing the actual piece & I have no clue what it is called to hunt one down before it goes in to get the headliner done.

Attached is pic of what I seek.

Thanks in advance.

It is almost certainly slid back in the track due to the spring clips coming loose or, more likely, breaking.

With mini mag-light in mouth the fabled Yeti lumbers into car & precariously positions itself between 2 seats & proclaims,
"Winner,winner chicken dinner" lol !

It looked to be stable but is too far for me to reach by hand to inspect without bringing down the liner, hmm maybe I go Inspector Gadget & engineer a Vodka inspired "reacher" lol. There's a 1996 XJ6 near me that has a good interior if this panel is cracked or warped will the XJ6's be compatible.

Thanks again !

Default Sunroof stuck in tilt

So my sunroof is acting up. Earlier today it opened on one click for the first time. Then I went to close it and it didn't close all the way. This was fine due to the hot weather. I got back in and closed it but it went into tilt and now it is unresponsive. Anyone had this issue and know what's going on?

Thanks!

I found mine in the very back of the track when I pulled out the headliner, unfortunately it broke, and I have no clue if it can be fixed. How difficult is it to replace? Or would I have to replace the entire sunroof assembly?

Please post the "re-set procedure" for anyone who finds this thread in the future.

Vector, somehow my post appeared on the wrong thread. I SHOULD have been in the "X Type" group posting a reply to:

Not at all sure how it happend but here is the proceedure:
TO reset the sunroof:
With the roof in its closed position, at rest. Key in, ignition on, hold the button forward as if you are going to tilt open. Keep holding for 20 seconds, then release and immediatly push the button the same direction (forward to tilt open) and keep holding. The roof should flip up and down then slide back all the way then will slide forward all the way to its closed position again.

Ok apparently the clips that retain my bar/drainage trough have came loose as when I open the roof, the bar stays back in. Is there a way to access this without taking down the headliner(I just had this done not even a year ago).

Should this work on a 2000 XJR?
Holding forward will open, pressing back will reverse, and fully open, but there is no park, and I have to guess the closed position.
Thoughts?

the easiest way is to use a metal coat hanger cut it open so you have a long reach with it , then open sun roof in tilt mode. then push sun roof panel out through the top of the car, then bring back quarter panel forward. at the back of the panel track you will see a pin either side of the track bend them back up careful not to brake the pins use a pair of long nose plyers this should fix problem. then slide sun roof panel back into place you will hear a click then cycle it through open and close, you should be all set jrb53

I recovered all three of my jags,xj6,xj8 and xk8.only the xk8 was enjoyable as it has no sunroof.i have four 6o's convertibles and enjoy them but have never found a good use for a sunroof, and boy are they a pain to work with. i'd rather install a convertible top,as i'm not having to look and work overhead, steve.
