Tool question
What tool do I need to remove the coolant line coming from the coolant reservoir into the Thermostat housing??? I am in the middle of replacing my plastic T-stat unit with an aluminum one and can't figure out how to get the clamps off, there are two of them please see attached pic.
There is a tool to remove the clamps but you can remove with a large pair of channel locks. I assume you're looking to replace the whole tower? Are you planning to remove the intake manifold? If not the two rear bolts are a real pain to get to. You will need a 8mm crow's foot or possible bend a cheap box wrench to get to the bolts. Also I hope you're planning on replacing the hoses. The short hose from the tower to the outlet distribution pipe is not supposed to be swollen like that.
thanks once again Wazari for your help, the pic I posted is not of my engine just one I found on the forum trying to research the tool. Anyway I am planning on replacing the hoses since I have eveything apart. As for the tool what is the name and where can I get one with those band style clamps.
Any other advice you could give on this little project would be greatly appreciated.

I would simply just use channel locks. I used to use large jaw locking pliers to remove clamps like this. This style clamp is actually superior in design to the screw type clamp.
Finding an 8mm crows foot might be challenging and of course you would need a fairly long extension to fit into the crows foot. I have seen on 1/4" drive crow foot in the 8mm size.
With all the tools I would think you could accomplish the job in about an hour.

Thanks again guys, got the crow's foot on order from Snap-on.. been planning this project for some time, get the old ones doesn't concern me. It's just I would really like to replace the clamps with the same style as OEM since I participate in concour's events occasionally.
But if I can't find them it is not the end of the world.
