Default Towbar issue Please help

Hi all I'm new here, PLEASE can anyone help me. I have a x308 xjr MY2000 which had a genuine Jaguar tow bar on, which I had removed by my so called, local garage which specialize in jaguars. Once they removed it the turn signal indicator in the dash now flashes and beeps twice as fast. The turn signals around the car flash as normal. This is driving me mad.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 mins or so.

If that do not work try doing a hard reset.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the info the battery was disconnected last week when the car was in the garage for an other issue, you mentioned a HARD RESET ?,Is that when you remove the negative cable from the battery and touch it to the positive cable which is still connected to the battery for a couple of seconds and then reconnected the negative cable.

Do you remove the negative cable with the ignition off, touch the positive terminal with the ignition on then turn the ignition off and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

Will this effect the mileage registered on the cars instruments ?

regards

I wonder how they removed the trailer wiring. In the fuse box in the trunk, there is a 14 pin connector for trailer wiring. The plug includes a link that tells the car that a hitch is present. You might want to see if they unplugged that connector. I suspect they just tied the cabling and trailer plug out of the way.

No ... hard reset is performed with ignition switch off at all times.
I would guess that connecting the battery into the system with the ignition on could cause some serious problems.

No, accumulated mileage will not be affected, with the exception of probably resetting the A and B trip odometers.

edit: re your "hard reset ....couple of seconds", I think the current wisdom is to touch cables for 15 - 30 seconds.

All associated wiring for the tow bar has been removed, done a hard reset as suggested, when all back together, I tested the system indicator in the dash, flashed and beeps as it should for about 8-10 seconds then resumed to flash and bleep twice as fast.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

I'm new on here just had the car(x308xjr) for a couple of months after wanting one for 12 yrs. (best car I have ever owned)

Could be the flasher relay. Sometimes when a hitch is installed they will plug in a heavy duty flasher relay to handle the extra load of trailer lights.

With only 3 posts, can't send you a PM.

But any interest in getting rid of the towbar?

Not surprised

They look to fit very well unlike that add-ons on this side of the pond.

A bad ground will cause the turn signal to flash that way.
