TPS Adjustment on newly repaired throttle body (long)
About 1500 miles since I installed the EBay throttle body, including a 455 mile trip for work. Car hasn't missed a beat. Been waiting to see how long before ASI calls me looking to send my warranty TB back, still no word from them. I'll give them a bit more time and keep piling the miles on.
Finally got the rebuilt TB back from ASI the other day. Took them awhile, but when they called to get my credit card info for the return shipping the guy said the paperwork indicated the set screw on the pedal position sensor was not properly, so when the PPS returned to its resting position, it was going past the zero point and the car didn't know how to deal with a negative reading and went haywire. I was told that I should never adjust the PPS set screw and I said I know that, thats why I didn't adjust or even examine the PPS apart from looking for cracks in it. I stated flat out that if this was what they found, then it left their facility that way, or was not properly secured with loctite perhaps and it vibrated itself out, which would meet the steadily worsening symptoms I experienced. Guy said "huh" and left it at that...not really taking responsibility for it, but not admonishing me further.
So its here, I need a free evening to get it under the hood and I think I'll just plug it in and see if the car goes nuts or not. Probably install it and carry the spare around with the tools needed to change it out if I needed to until I get a warm and fuzzy.
