Traction Control Error Message
Hi. I'm fairly new to Jags, so I'm still learning. My '98 XJ8 has a Traction Control Error message on the display. What are some of the 'usual suspects' when one gets this message?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
These are typically caused by dry joints on the abs controller for the abs motor and it can be removed without opening brake lines. Then drilling 2x 1/4 inch holes through the cover above the connector and soldering them.
Else, could be wheel speed sensors that need to be checked and cleaned.
^ Good points above, I'll add that if you only see this message on start-up, then its more than likely an old and failing battery.
If it stays, then check the wheel speed sensors as suggested, to do this you need to either put the car on a ramp or stands and check the big castilated nut on the back of the wheel hub and sensor, basically a hall-effect switch that even dried grass can stop it working.
The Abs controller re-solder is well documented on here, but before you attempt it try and get any fault codes pulled from the car, a good indie Jag shop can usually do this, the pump controller error code is C-1095, this means it needs a dab of solder on the 2 contacts.
Hope this helps.
