Default TractionControlFail/StabilityControlFail/EngineFailsafe

Hi all, haven't posted in a while. I did some research and can't find a problem just like mine on the forum. I got a 1999 xj8 VDP. I had the engine replaced last summer, new transmission a few months ago and a new radiatior last week. Got the car back and it will randomly go into engine failsafe/ traction control fail/ stability control fall, but NO abs light. It will stay in this for a few minutes -10 minute before snapping back out. It used to be intermittent but now it's multiple times a day it is doing this. Last winter it used to do this a decent ammount on start up, but now it will do it whenever it pleases!!! Anyone have any suggestions on a plan of attack?

If your cruise control is also disabled when you get the messages I would suspect your brake switch. I had success just cleaning mine, others have replaced theirs

How do I go about cleaning it? And what would indicate if I should just clean it or replace it?

Just got battery tested and he said it was fine. Came up with 4 codes. P0171, P0174, P1000, and P0442

OK, so you are running lean. First try is to CAREFULLY check the part load and full load breather tubes for hard to see splits. These are the tubes leading from the top of each valve cover. After that you need to go through step be step troubleshooting. Are you going to be doing it yourself?
My wild guess is that you probably have a very bad vacuum leak or a failing fuel pump. The car goes into RP to protect the engine from lean burn failure. As to why you also are getting trac and stability, I really do not know, but you need to fix the lean problem first!

As to not finding this condition in the posts- you aren't looking very hard. The archives are full of unexplained RP!

Lots of posts about those codes - just use Search - and their fixes.
