Transmission 1st to 2nd
Hello all I have a 1998 XJ8 the trans was rebuilt 23 years ago and now has about 25,000 km on it.
It does not want to shift from 1 to 2nd some times have taken the car in to a shop and they checked it fluid up and ok then then did a diagnostic check and that was okay.
it only seems to do it when cold and in normal shift not sport, I have tried to make sure the tranny fluid is circulating by putting the car in neutral and then in revers and then drive long enough for the fluid to go through it, but it still happens but not all the time!
Any thoughts !

I have a 2001 xj8, had the transmission rebuilt just over 2 years ago, had the wheel bearings done, and the next day car is reluctant to shift into first or second, transmission shop has it now, he asked me if the computer was reset after the wheel bearings were replaced, and I did not know. I get it back on Friday will let you know...
Well guys, just got my car back from the Transmission shop. had it rebuilt just about 2 years ago, the drum that was used was found to be defective, and as with about 9 other jaguars that this shop has rebuilt, has repaired it again with a new drum that is supposed to be of a better quality, than the last one that was recalled. good luck for me. car is like new again, and no out of pocket for me, good luck buddy.
Not sure what you mean new drum do you mean the torque converter? as for my problem it would seem to be corrosion at one of the connectors as a change in the weather has changes the problem and it had disappeared but have the car in and the mechanic checking all the transmission wiring for connections or bad wiring. might solve the problem.
