Default Transmission DipStick

I am trying this again in hopes that someone will want to take up on this offer

Without formal introduction, I am the guy who developed the Transmission Dipstick for the 5HP24 and 5HP30 Transmissions in BMWs. I have been asked to offer the Classic Dipstick kit for the XJ8 & xK8 with the 5HP24 Transmission. Great, I said. All I need is a car to install the first unit on, which will give me all the measurements that I need to offer the kit. I am located in the Philadelphia area, and will completely make this worth your while, if I can use your XJ8 or XK8 as the first. And, yes, Your car will have the Dipstick when you leave, plus a few liters of factory fluid.

Anyone interested, Please let me know.

Regards

Tom

Can't believe that someone hasn't taken you up on this. I suspect Ellijay is a little far away to use mine.

I don't know if you have had any takers yet, but I live in NoVA (right outside DC) and may be in Philly in mid January. If you haven't had anyone take you up by then, I'm good with being a guinea pig...

The X308 transmissions are "sealed for life" and there is no dipstick. This makes checking the fluid level and adding fluid a real PITA. Most folks now agree the "sealed for life" thing means sealed for the life of the warranty. I personally would love to have a real dipstick for peace of mind and to allow adding fluid without crawling around a hot exhaust pipe with engine running to check the stinking fluid.

Hey Jim....a little 'Transmision Therapy' is good for the soul and bonding with your Jaguar ;o))
A modern trait of most manufacturers now I'm afraid.......is
you are not supposed to fiddle with it you know....that's why they cover everything in plastic panels.
Now there are quite a few cars which have no engine oil dipstick!

... unless it is the SC model, in which case the dipstick tube is there, but the dipstick has to be purchased or fabricated.
