Transmission light after 3 hours

I've had my 2000 VDP XJ8 for two years and over the past four months have been experiencing this problem.
Here goes.... After 3 hours of driving in a day, the amber colored transmission light illuminates w/ no 'limp home' or other driving impairments. If I restart within 24 hrs of this triggering event, the light is still there. It goes away after about 24 hrs.
It first occured on a four hour roundtrip triggering after one hour on the return.
This has now happened 5 times in recent months.
The last was an eight hour roundtrip in one day. It triggered after three hours and remained on thru out the rest of the day. It did not reset until about 24 hours after my return home.
The largest Jag dealership in Indiana looked at it but could not identify cause. To their defense, when they looked at it, the indicator was not lit. Nonetheless, they acknowledged that given the events, there shud have been a 'fault message' in the computer system but none existed. They did not seems concerned and basically suggested to ignore it for now.
Given its the transmission we're talking about, this makes me somewhat uncomfortable.
I would appreciate any feedback that can be offered on this matter.
My thanks in advance for your consideration.
