Default Transmission Question

Can anybody tell me if a transmission from a 2001 XJ8L will fit in a 2000 XJ8? How about a transmission from a 1998 XJ8 into a 2000 XJ8? I have found a good deal on a 2000 XJ8 with 106,000 miles that is in pristine condition except the transmission. I am thinking about putting my transmission out of my 2001 XJ8L in it or I found a used on from a 1998 XJ8. I'm just not sure of fitment. Thanks everybody.

All of the above used the ZF 5HP24 transmission. The TCM compatibility is another matter. I was able to install a replacement TCM with the correct part number without any issue. If your old/new TCM part numbers match up you may be in good shape.

Ringgold, just over the mountain!

Shoot! In Georgia, we might be cousins.

You have to pull the TCM. DISCONNECT the battery.

Remove the connector on the top of the TCM, in the firewall extension on the right side. Remove the TCM.

Part number is on the side.
