Default unknown cable

Hi found a 3 pin lead in the boot(trunk) of my 1999 xjr. It was stuck under the battery and with the brown wire loose it looks like its been shorting out to the chassis. Can anyone help me to identity this please. going by a black grommet in the top right of the photo it looks like it should be there because there is a little plug on the underside of the 3 pin socket and the grommet has a small hole in it.
Regards
Geoff

I believe that is an accessory plug that is only used with a factory towing package. If i remember correctly it is ignition switched on. Tuck it away safely and you should be fine.
Jaguar for cost savings uses the same wiring harness on a series and if special items are not ordered the plugs are just empty in place.

You will find it is also use when the cars are transported from the factory to dealerships I believe.

There is another loose plug lying around the battery that was for the transport isolation. It is a 2 conductor plug with no voltage available.
