Unknown Connector
Hi all. I have had the dash removed doing various items with the heating and blowers groaning with bad bearings. I've put it all back together, but there's a small, two pin, connector that comes driectly off the ignition switch (where the key actually goes in) and I can't find anywhere it should connect to. The two wires to it are White and a Brown, the connector itself is white. The wires have are both covered in what looks similar to shrink wrap tubing. Mine is the 3.2 Sport model so not sure if it's something for a higher model car and left unconnected for mine?
Anyone any ideas please?

If I may hazard a guess: My very first guess was that it is the connector the transponder receiver ring, hence I asked my AI program:
"Jaguar X308, 1998: What does the connector going to the transponder-receiver around the ignition lock look like?"
And the answer was:On the 1998 Jaguar XJ8 (X308), the immobilizer transponder receiver is the black plastic ring (antenna coil) around the ignition barrel. The connector going to it is usually:
Typical wire colors on many X308s are:

- a small 2-pin connector
- black or dark grey plastic
- with two thin wires leading into the steering column harness
- mounted very close to the ignition switch housing
Typical wire colors on many X308s are:
- white/slate (or white/grey)
- black/light green
…but Jaguar wiring colors can vary by market and year.
- Behind the steering column shroud
- Directly around the ignition lock cylinder
- Usually clipped onto the immobilizer ring assembly
- the circular antenna ring around the key barrel
- a short pigtail cable
- the small 2-pin plug connecting into the column loom
Hi Peter_of_Australia. The one in the Autoworks Motors picture is it!!... that's the one
As the cable is so short (as you observed) I need to find the Transponder Receiver now and a cable from the Transponder that connects to the Key Lock connector you idntified for me.
Thank you so much, I will let you know soon as...
