Upcoming Track Day - Brake Pad Suggestions?
The local Caffeine & Gasoline club is having a track day in a few weeks, and I would like to run my 2000 XJR. The track is short (about 1.5 miles), with 10 turns. My current brake setup is Akebono Euro ceramic pads with Centric vented rotors (standard 325/305 XJR sizes). I replaced the brake fluid 2 months ago (DOT 4 fluid). I did some "spirited" driving this past week and found that the brakes softened significantly within a short period of time. Not very confidence inspiring! I am looking for suggestions, based upon user's track experience, for brake pads that can withstand track use for an extended period of time. I am considering Hawk HPS, Akebono Performance, and EBC Yellowstuff (I looked at Pagid 4-2-1's, but they are too expensive).
FYI: On the suspension, I have replaced the front struts, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar bushings and links, strut mounts, tie rod ends, vee mounts, and engine mounts. I have replaced the rear sway bar bushings and links. I have also replaced the differential and transmission fluids.
I appreciate any and all input! Thank you!

I have never been disappointed with my EBC reds when tracking (cross drilled and slotted rotors), so I would imagine yellows can only be better at the track
I've had good luck with Hawk HPS on other cars in the past as well, EBC is from the UK so I felt they were the best fit on my Jag

So, this past Wednesday I ran the XJR at Hallet Racing Circuit in Oklahoma, and had a great time! I ran EBC Yellows on it and they performed really well. Very little fade and nice bite throughout the day.
I had ordered braided steel brake lines, but they arrived too late to install (as well as Mina springs, rear Bilsteins, and Powerhouse rear sway bar).
I had cancelled my braided brake line order with one company and ordered from another company, but the cancelled order shipped to me anyhow. When I called them (Autoanything) to return the braided lines, they told me to keep them and they would refund my $! So, I have an extra set of brand new Goodridge braided steel brake lines that I will post in the "for sale" forum at a good price.
