Just completed two major maintenance issues. on my two x308's. complete timing chains and lifters,water pumps, hoses. thanks to forum posts it made the job a lot easyer. the only hard part was getting the crankshaft bolt undone. got the water pumps off ebay, Olympia auto parts with metal impellers for $30 each with free shipping a big savings .rented the tools from Christopers also the complete timing chain sets. dropped the oil pan cleaned out the crud. changed the Idler pulleys and belts,spark plugs,hoses.so I should be good for the next 100,000 miles. If you follow the correct procedure's it is a breeze.....

 

Oh boy, here I am not looking forward to doing that task on my '98, and you've gotten to do it twice!
Some folks just gotta hog all the fun!

 

What did you do to the "lifters?"

I guess you are talking about valve lifters?
