Has anyone started producing & selling these X-Pipes or are they strictly custom. There's an awesome exhaust shop here locally, I may look into this soon.

my shop did it while I waited...custom made on the spot. Including the labor, parts, and removing the 3 mufflers, they charged me $180

You can buy them, I think Magnaflow makes them. But a custom made one is easier.

Could always start by removing just the mid-mufflers first, and leaving the centre h pipe and rear mufflers. If you're not getting the rumble you want, then you could go back and replace the h pipe with an x pipe

The best price I've found in the UK for an "off the shelf" stainless X pipe is £55, but that is not a simple straight fit as it would need either welding to the existing pipe or the use of several adaptors.

I would like to get some V8 noise out of my car though, so I'm always interested to hear Audio. I've watched Daim's You Tube videos a few times, gives me a rough idea of what sound might be released.

This is a good UK firm for Exhaust parts.

Jetex is good. My adapters from 2" to 2.5" are from them They are only used on my tailpipes.

If you want a less loud setup, as said, keep the STOCK X308 silencers in the rear. I fitted lighter, more emptier X300 ones... Compared to the X308 ones, they are nearly hollow. So it does kind of "bark" at the same time... It also, and I love that the most, will backfire every so often when you floor it and then take your foot off of the pedal... Kind of like a "vrrrrroooooom pooom poom pop" and it crackles a little

My neighbour said it can't be a Jaguar engine, as it sounds too Italian with my exhaust setup... Compliment? I guess so!

I started with the mid-mount mufflers first. Made no noticeable difference. That's when I decided to go ahead and do the x-pipe. This car sounds great in sport mode with the lengthened shifts. Cruising on the freeway you can hardly tell anything was different until you get in the throttle.

I just wish I could weld, I'd have this sorted in a couple of hours if I could. Sadly my welding skills are so bad, Stevie Wonder could do better.

I've been given a whole exhaust system for a 308 by a mate who broke one up, the whole thing is nearly new. I might clean up the back boxes and use them instead of the well used ones on my car currently and have an X pipe put in.

I might be dinging the X out soon, as I want to try and see what the engine sounds like with two separated banks... I know exhaust totally removed sounds huge but dunno if it would transfer with a silencer as well...

Guys with the X pipe fitted, what's cabin boom like at motorway speed, and what kind of rev range does it come and go?

Check my video up above... Inside sound and the top speed I go to is 120 kph which is more than the UK motorway speed.

WHEN it is cold, it is a little droney, but that goes when it is warm.

Also, for those who want a different note: changing the tailpipes makes a HUGE difference...

I drive with 4" diameter stainless steel tips. These are adapted from 2.0-3.0" or something like that. Without tips you can hear a HUGE difference between them!

No tailpipes but otherwise exact setup (tailpipe = just the piper AFTER the silencer)

With tailpies but otherwise exact setup

Not intending to hijack the tread, but with all experts reading here already, let me ask your opinion:

I'll go the cut-out route, for various reasons, and just ordered some 3" sets.
I expect to use them mostly fully closed, just open them up every once a while ''when the need is there''.

When opening, I am looking for a nice rumble, but I have no need to set of all car alarms (I have other toys for that ).

So I am just wondering if I should fit them at the very front (where Vector fitted them), or find a place before the mid mufflers (where temperatures and flows are perhaps also more friendly for the valves?).

I saw the video of one the members here who disconnected the system there temporarily, but as you all know, video sound sucks ...

So what is your experience if I may ask?

Fit them after the silencers before the rear axle. Will be a pita but that should give you a decent growl without setting car alarms off. If you do it before the middle silencers it'll just be really loud.

I think if you fit them after the centre box, but before the middle boxes you'll get a decent sound. Sadly cut outs aren't an option for me as in the UK it's an MOT fail if you have them fitted I've been told.

It's difficult to get a modified exhaust made up in the UK as we don't have US style exhaust shops, only fitting centres who will only do standard systems. As a consequence any places that will do you customised exhausts tend to charge mega money. There are a number of places on eBay selling custom systems, but prices vary significantly.

However there are a few custom places in my surrounding area, I'm hoping one of these will be able to do me something interesting at a decent price. I just need to decide what method to go for.
