...on 3 occasions now, within 20-30 minutes of parking the car, we've gone back out to leave and the car starts, runs for about 3-5 seconds and dies. After the car dies, we also hear a gurgling, bubbling sound in the trunk area. After about 5-6 attempts, the car starts and runs. Also if I am not mistaken, when the car finally starts, it does so after the previous attempt no longer resulted in the gurgling, bubbling sound in the trunk (fuel tank) area.

My wife say's is has never happened to her. Thoughts?

 

I would probably try opening the gas cap when it does its dirty deed and see if it starts ok then. If so, I go looking at the evap system. If not, I would set up the problem and go looking with a stethescope.
