Default What are these hoses? (coolant leak with pic)

I have a coolant leak from what appears to be from the connection of one of two hoses coming from the bottom of the engine, but I can't figure out what the name of these hoses are. The one that appears to be leaking looks like it goes up towards the air filter (supercharger?), but I can't see up there no matter how I position a mirror.

If it isn't the hose itself, I'm not sure where it's coming from as the water pump replacement is only a year old.

Please see pic, and let me know what you think. Thanks!

Attached is an excerpt from the parts manual for the supercharged engines lower hose assembly.

This has been very helpful - I looked into this based on the above posts, and they are the oil cooler lines, which means the coolant must be falling from above this area and collecting there. I will look into the supercharger cooling system and see if one of those hoses passes over around said area.

If anyone has anymore advice, or had a leak that has collected around here, please let me know.

It is really hard to see in this car - I can't even fit an inspection mirror between many areas. It looks like I may have to take some sort of air intake assembly apart just to see in and find the problem.

You might need to redo the water pump using new gaskets. Had to redo mine; even then still leaked; got frustrated, canned the new Airtex pump and installed an AC Delco -- solved the problem.

I had a coolant leak on my 2004 XJ8 with 191,000 miles that we purchased 11 years ago. After much head scratching and profanity it turned out to be the throttle body coolant return line that's attached to the throttle body and the other end is attached to a nipple under the intake manifold. To replace this hose it was necessary to remove the intake manifold and a few other parts. There is no logical reason to have a hose attached here and this kind of "engineering" is one reason maintenance costs are so high and cause the resale value to be so low on higher end foreign cars. The car isn't worth the flat rate labor costs of such repairs so I fixed it myself. Stupid crap like this as well as some cheap plastic parts such as the thermostat housing will keep me from ever buying another Jaguar.

Looks like the gasket did go bad, and the mechanic is swapping them with a different type. Hopefully it fixes it, and something else isn't leaking.

Have to say, the coolant hoses/coolant system in general seem pretty crap on these cars. I have a 32-year old diesel Mercedes (these engines run the same kind of temps as the jaguar, if not hotter) with 50% more miles than the XJR. My other mercedes has over 300k. Neither of my two Benzes had ever broken a coolant line - the only hoses that have needed replacement were fuel lines, and radiator/thermostat problems related to front-end accidents.

The jag has had at least half of the coolant hoses replaced, with multiple hose or hose connection failures in its 13 year history and just over 100k. This forum is littered with posts on coolant system failures. Is this because of some environmental regulations/costs with the rubber, or just cheapness?
