Default What is this? and where does it go?

Hi guys / Gals,

My dad has bought himself a tidy XJ8 sport, apart from the wiper problem she runs really well.
We had a look under the bonnet the other day and noticed what looks like a vacum pipe hanging in mid air?

Looked around but i can not see where it's meant to go...

thanks for any help in advance!

I've moved your post to the XJ8 X308 section where you will get better results, but without a year I can't be sure it's the right XJ8..

Welcome to the forum. That is the cruise control vacuum line. It should connect to the vacuum solenoids which are located in the right fender well on my US version XK8. Someone on your side will probably come through with a correction if neede.

Here is a JEG image of the Cruise Control (Speed Equipment) Parts- Looks like the hose you need is the vacuum inner hose:

Weblink to image on my dropbox account:

Click on the webpage image after webpage appears to get a better view of image. (note the part number is the same for either RH and LH drive vehicles - NNC3968CB and it is about $3.70 dealership pricing).
