Default What's is this compartment for?

Hello everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Anyways, yesterday I was inspecting the engine to see if everything was in good shape and during my inspection, I opened up a lid and behold a little compartment. What is this used for exactly? A storage compartment for tools? Just a thought. Thanks!

I can't post pix but google search: 2000 xj8 under bonnet tool kit

It's the green foam with the little tool kit. Hard to come by.

Not us, we only got the tools for changing the tire/whatever was in the styrofoam under the spare. I however was fortunate enough to acquire the little tool kit under the bonnet for my X308.

One of my 308's had a toolkit in the space, the other had a tray with spare lightbulbs in. Both are in the garage somewhere after the cars's demise.

It was for a tool and a spare bulb kit -- tried to order them when I bought my 02. Told not available in USA at that time (2002)

It is a space with a cover for the tool kit, not supplied in the US, but I got one from England along with a Jag umbrella for the trunk.

My car is balanced now, lol!

I have seen them for sale on EBay. Pretty light on tools, tho. I keep my tire repair kit there.
