Default Wheel reach motor cable

My next job to tackle is replacing the reach cable on my wheel,at least that is what I think it might be.Question is can I drop the column with out removing the wheel.

I have the same question.

Spent Sunday upside down exploring the mysteries of the steering column. BRUTAL says drop the steering column, unclip the motor, replace the cable. Easy!

The tilt motor/cable would be easy. JTIS says to remove the wheel. Looks like I might be able to get to the right side upper bolt. Left side still unknown. Found one post from a tech said it was a 30 minute job. Another said that he had done many . . . did not look forward to another. No pictorials on searches on all the forums.

The upper bolts install from the wheel side, are TROX and have a 10mm nut on the firewall side. Got that far.

Need to know how to remove the upper column cover without breaking it. Perhaps the upper bolts can be seen from there without removing the wheel. Done that but before airbags.

The objective is that this post becomes the new 'replacing the reach motor cable' sticky. Take pictures.

Here is a snapshot from JTIS on the upper bolts.
