Default Windshield Cowling/Finisher GNE8861BB paint inquiry ?!

Anyone know if the windshield cowling is paintable as I'm not finding any new ones available, but I don't want peeling paint to be my new nemesis going forward, it looks to be ABS & has fine mesh pattern in areas for drainage that may present issues w/ painting. Stock pic but mine has fading/discoloration in a few spots that draws my eye.

Any input is appreciated.

I hear you KC, my cowling has what looks like a "metallic" finish to it, not black, not brown, an in-between very dark "bronze-type" coloring. I am pretty sure it is paintable, but to try and replicate the original finish would be difficult.

I would think that a fine sanding and repaint would be fine, but not sure that plain black would work..........probably needs to be some hard-to-find dark, metallic brown/bronze!!

Mine looks to have been charcoal metallic, some of my fade/discoloration spots are in a spray pattern so it's really odd to me. Cleaning up my engine bay & this is my new sore thumb lol. The "Wipe New"-like acrylic coating products on the market do well for short term cures but need to be maintained/redone.

Like so,(now I see I need to replace that washer tube tie w/ a black one as well lol.)

If only Jags were this easy, the paint presents more problems than it's vanity is worth lol.

I had to paint part of the window trim on my 97 XK8 and used AutomotiveTouchup Jaguar 342. It may not be the same on the XJ8, but worth a look.

Guess I'll use the "Wipe New" bottle I've had for a few years but never got around to using. It claims to last for years, we shall see, I'll post pics here.
