Default X300 and X308 front shocks: Interchangeable?

Hello all,

I have the opportunity to pick up some brand new front shocks intended for an X300 XJR for a steal. I've heard that there are a few diffrences in the front suspension between the X300 and the X308, but can never find any specifics on the differences and interchangeability of parts between the two. Anybody know if the shocks are interchangeable? Or anything else about the differences, just for future knowledge?

Go online and pull up both shock and compare them. But, from what I have heard/read the body is the same, just the interior was tweaked. I COULD BE WROUNG THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

The X308 got an updated front suspension to cure the infamous tramlining.

In principle, the X308 is an X300 (and the sticker under the bonnet does say X300!) - it just has a different engine, gearbox, front suspension, interior and electrical system plus a few odds'n'ends...

Shocks are not interchangable. The bottom mounts are different.

Thanks wazari, that's what I was figuring, but hope springs eternal

Oh well, guess I give in and pony up the $250 for some new front Bilsteins. C'est la vie.

I know Bilstein used rebuild your old shocks to your specs for about $70 each. Could be another option if you could afford to have your car idle for a week or so.
