X308 - How to open bonnet
I had a lot of trouble with opening the hood when the plastic latch broke. to all insult to injury the passenger side hood latch would not work. After six or seven tripe to the junk yard I came up with this. Hope it helps someone.
Step by step
1. Remove tire
2. Remove inner lining
3. From bottom bolt (attached photo A) measure upward 15". [Make sure you follow the curve in the wheel well. you should be close to one of the holes that is used to attach the inner lining to the fender wall.]
4. Drill a 1/2" hole in the fender wall toward the rear of the vehicle(photos B & C).
5. Take a long screwdriver and poke through the hole to fine the latch and push toward the rear and the hood will open.
6. After doing your repairs or replacement of the cable and or latch replace the inner lining.
drill a 1/2" hole through the lining that aligns with the hole you made in the fender wall in step 4 [photo D] and drive in a cork in the hole to protect the under hood compartment and the fender from rust.
[this will make it easy for future repairs if necessary]
7. Replace the tire

Dicque,
I've moved your thread from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X308 forum where members with the same model will see it.
I'd read about drilling a hole to get round this issue but seeing a photo of the exact location is a big help.
