Default X308 passengers hood latch won't open

1999 XJ8

I see there have been previous posts but wonder if there are any further thoughts or updates. The passenger side hood latch was not working well, but after a few tries if i pulled quickly on the hood release, it would eventually open. Now I can't get it to open at all. Only the drivers side latch releases

Do a forum search for hood release in the x308 forum. You will need to open a hole in the passenger fender arch and release the latch. It sounds like time to replace the cable to the passenger side latch. It is a pretty straight forward procedure and the forum articles have pictures of where to place the hole for access.

good luck! i think most of us have had to deal with that issue! and it sucks but you will get it open...it is all in taking a look at the pics we've uploaded and imagining what things look like when you are poking around...it sounds silly but close your eyes and use the force :-) it took me about an hour to get mine opened when it happened

y'all made this sound sooooo easy.... I couldnt get it... and my friend who owns a body shop..couldnt either.... "the force" directed me to the dealership and to part with 600.00 dollars.

Interestingly... at the dealership... they just Cut the stud things that lock into the hood latch holes.. I was surprised they didnt use the "secret method" found here...?
