Default XJ Factory Wiring

Hello, Just a curious question really. Is the wiring installed in X308s a standard Loom with any unused plugs and sockets blanked off, or were there different looms for different models? I'm giving serious thought to fitting US Spec Bumper Marker Lights to my XJ to make it a bit Unique, but am unsure about the wiring situation.
I ask about the loom after learning that if certain X308s don't have Cruise control fitted, the wiring is all in place you just need to get the mechainicals to connect it. Thankfully mine is fully loaded and has cruise, and now can't live without it! Thanks Guys! S.

Hi Stu

According to the electrical guide I have for my '00 XJR there are different loom configurations for LHD and RHD (not surprising) but there are no more variants. WHen I look at the exterior lighting section I can see remarks like "ROW only" for the side repeaters, which I assume means Rest of World only (As US Jags don't have side repeaters) Similarly I can see side marker lights with the remark "NAS only" which I assume means North America S.... omething only. From that I would make the assumption that the loom is the same as you suggested, just with different bits either connected or not.

While I was in my trunk fuse box the other day I noticed a lot of "spare" connectors running into there, and I also know if you don't have the upgraded sound system all the wiring is there for it, so I think you could be in luck that all the wiring for the side markers in the bumpers will be there.

I wasn't a big fan of the side markers when I moved to the US from the UK but they're growing on me. I guess a UK spec car just has reflectors in the bumper sides, and not lights ? If so, it's maybe an easy start to remove one reflector and fish about behind it to see if you can see any wiring ?

Thanks For the reply, I'm pleased that someone has access to wiring diagrams for these wonderful machines. You are correct in you assumption that the UK models have reflectors in place of the markers, but they are orange all round. I have had one out when I first bought the car, then promply broke the metal catch off it! I did fix it though using a catch off a Ford Escort side repeater that I had lying round. I did however forget to look inside to see if there was any wires, as I was too preoccuipied fixing the catch! I'll look again in a short while though and let you know.

The reason I want to do this is because I quite fancy a bit of a change, and also the seal has gone on one of my reflectors and has mold inside, so I may as well use it as an excuse to try something different! S.

Having had a look behind the reflectors on my XJ I can't see any wires hanging & looking under the rear bumper I can't see any there either. I may use the Factory Wiring diagram you sent me to Retrofit a set to mine, or perhaps go Old School on it and hook them into the sidelights circuit. Thanks For Your Help. S.
