Angry XJ Sport engine won't turn over

XJ sport 3.2 1998
I last started the engine OK a few weeks ago, but now theres just a click (presumably from the starter solenoid). I have checked the battery/connections etc and all are OK (I am an electronics engineer),
so I am assuming that the starter has a problem or the engine has seized with the cold weather, or there is something sticking (film of rust?). I would be most grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Chris,

I'll be amazed if it's is not a failing/partially discharged battery or a loose cable connection at the HPPM (High Power Protection Module).

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X308 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

The HPPM is in front of the spare tire. Have you removed and cleaned the ground strap at the right rear of the engine? Also check for corrosion of the crimp on the battery cables. If all that is good and the battery shows over 12.4 V try tapping on the starter.

Feel for the starter relay to click

The fuse links have a habit of coming loose
