Cool XJ8 can the engine/trans work transplant

Hi everyone,
I am totally new here, but thought it a good place to seek advice.

I have a 2002 XJ8 3.2 with 42k miles on the clock.

I would like to transplant the engine and transmission into a 1950's F100 Truck.

Does anyone know, do you think it is possible to do? RE the electronics?

If so, what other components would need to come from the jag to make my project viable?

I assume engine loom, gauges, maybe fuel tank....

Would it be possible to separate the SRS and ABS etc systems and just keep the engine & trans for transplant??

Any help much appreciated!!

That sounds like a recipe for the slowest suicide in history! Even a duff door switch can kill the motor on a Jag.

My advice would be to forget it - but you have two options -
1. Buy an earlier (non electronic) XJ (maybe an XJ12?) and swap that - or -
2. Put the Ford body ON the Jag floorpan.

Unfortunately the V8 was introduced in about 1997 I think - and loaded with ECU's, ECM's, sensors and lots of electrickery.

Hang on ............ I lie ............ the Mk2 Daimler 2.5 was a V8 (nice one too). Most bodies have rotted away but the engines were bombproof.

And I just happen to know a chap who has two Mk2's in bits. Like me to enquire about them?
They are in Portsmouth.

I would contact MegaSquirt, and ask if one of their build it yourself ECUs would run just the engine and box!

Thanks guys, I did think of the 2.5 V8, know nothing about them but yes Jim if you could enquire...

Thanks Andrew, I will look up megasquirt and find out what they have to say, as the engine in the car I have runs really beautifully so if I could use that with its auto box I think that would be lovely

Have a look in the non Jaguar section of the forum, specifically the 32 Ford with S Type R engine.

It can be done!
