Default XJ8 Door Module

As I have only recently bought my 1999 Jaguar XJ8 vanden Plas, and am trying to bring it up to scratch, can anyone tell me, if I fit a new door control module, do I then have to take it to a dealership to get it re-programmed??? I would think so. I see quite a lot of used ones for sale on "FleaBay", I would check model numbers first. Should not be a difficult job should it, just removing the door card ?????

Terry- You need to locate the VCATS code in addition to the part number. The VCATS code identifes the software program in the module. All the VCATS codes are printed on a sticker somewhere in the car. If the code matches on the replacement, usually no programing is needed, if it does not it will need to be reprogrammed.

If you post in the XJ8 forum, someone there proabably can tell you exactly where to find the sticker in your car...this is the XK8 forum.
