Default Xj8 oil problems

Hello. I just registered and would love to get some of you all enthusiast advice. My mother has a xj8l . She has already put new transmission and a used motor in it mileage isn't that high runs great. But now I have low oil pressure and restricted performance. Please help. I'm hoping it's the oi sensor will fix the two

Default Xj8 problems

Hi guys . New here hope this is where you ask questions and get help. My mother has a 99xj8l dash says oil pressure and restricted performance. I'm guessing oil sensor. But I've worked on this car before and let me say it sucks. Can anybody give me some ideas please

Stating the obvious, but check oil level & look for any evidence of leaks. Get the codes read (free) @ AutoZone,PepBoys & the likes to see what codes are present.

To paraphrase "Dirty Harry", Do you feel lucky? I would not recommend running the engine with out knowing for sure that the gauge is dead and that I have oil pressure. A replacement oil pressure switch is available for $8.53 from SNG Barratt (part #AJ84853). I would change it first or you can adapt a fitting, hose, and gauge to get a direct reading. I think the mounting hole is either 8mm or 10mm. You can remove the old switch and match up the end if you want to try to gauge it.
