XJ8 Speaker size conflicts 5.25 or 6.5? Results!
From my wrecked 2000 XJ8 the tweeters behind the door handles are 1.5" in diameter. The problem is they are bonded into the bracket that snaps into the handle base. I doubt it will come apart without damage.
Expect to fab the mount brackets.
When in place, it's a pretty tight package as you only have about 5/8" to work with for depth otherwise you crash into the steel door inner.

Here is a shot when it's in place.

The original statement was 5.25 or 6.5... Hopefully I can add some clarity.
Here is a door speaker removed from my wrecked 2000 XJ8. It should technically be sold as a 5.25" at any electronics shop. However the marketing people of the world have decided to go with a bigger is better mentality so some companies call a 5.25" speaker a 6.5". It can be confusing so depending on what brand you are looking at you'll want to know the actual sizes in your Jag.
As a standard, Speakers are measured as the useable surface of the cone like this:

Here's the dimension of the OD of the speaker. This is not the correct way to spec a speaker but it will assist in making sure the holes are placed correctly so they will bolt right in.

Here's a shot of a front and rear door panel with the factory 5.25" round 4 ohm speakers installed.
