Hi all,

I have a XJR -98. Im currently working with this car, and i have a issue with the headlights.

When the light stalk/switch is in "Auto-mode/position" and i start the car up, the lights are on for maybe 20 sek - 1 min, then they shut off. Then i need to put the stalk/switch in the next position, the manual "on" mode to get the lights on again. Does anyone recognise this problem? Can it be a relay to the Headlights or is the problem located behind the steering wheel column, near the light-stalk/switch?

Obviously, it is dark when this is happening? Is there anything in front of the car that could be reflecting light back to the sensor?

 

It doesnt matter if it is dark or daylight, or rain or sunshine... The car does this all the time.

are you sure it was dark when you tried it??

 

I've not experienced this, but the sensor is something you might look at cleaning first - this is on the rear view mirror facing the windscreen. A Q-tip with a small amount of glass cleaner will work.
